Possible Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these symptoms of lactic acidosis: weakness, increasing sleepiness, slow heart rate, cold feeling, muscle pain, shortness of breath, stomach pain, feeling light-headed, and fainting. Stop using Actoplus Met and get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
* feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion;
* swelling or rapid weight gain; or
* nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Less serious Actoplus Met side effects may include:
* sneezing, runny nose, cough or other signs of a cold;
* dizziness;
* headache;
* mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain; or
* joint or muscle pain.
Precautions
Patients who are suffering from kidney disorder and those who have diabetic ketoacidosis should not be allowed to start using Actoplus Met. Patients who have to undergo CT scan or x-ray clinical evaluations during their therapy with this drug will have to discontinue using this clinical remedy for a short period of time.
The presence of certain medical conditions may interfere with the patient's ability to start using Actoplus Met. For example, patients who are suffering from heart disease (congestive heart failure), stroke, heart attack, eye problems (due to untreated diabetes) and so on, will have to be prescribed an alternative therapy option for their condition. The safety of this medicine in the case of nursing or pregnant mothers has not yet been determined. Elderly individuals and young adolescents are known to be more sensitive to developing the more severe side effects of Actoplus Met.
Storage
